The iPod classic (6th Generation iPod) was introduced on September 5, 2007 at Apple's "The Beat Goes On" media event. It was Updated at Apples iPod event in September 2008 to only one Size HDD.

Design
The iPod classic continues to use the click-wheel originally utilized on the iPod mini and later used on the iPod (4G) and later iPod models. It features an all-metal body, replacing the plastic face that users would complain was too easily scratched. However, the rear of the iPod classic is the same as all previous full-sized traditional iPods, meaning the back may still suffer from scratches. Also, the screen still uses plastic unlike the iPod touch and iPhone which use superior glass screens.
Interface
The iPod classic's software has been overhauled from the iPod (5G) to include more fluid graphics. It shares its interface with the simultaneously-released iPod nano (3G) which includes a split-screen interface, Cover Flow, refreshed extras and minor changes to the Music and Now Playing screens. The interface was discovered a few weeks prior to launch via videos published by MacRumors that were subject to cease-and-desist orders by Apple Legal.
Spinning HDD/ Battery Drain bug
Some iPod classics have a major issue where the iPod classic will continue spinning the hard drive when not needed, even during sleep and while not playing music. This causes the battery to drain very quickly. Although Apple hasn't acknowledged this issue, multiple users are confirming it has been fixed in the 1.0.3 update.
