iPod (2G)
From Mac Guides
The second generation iPod was introduced on July 17, 2002. New features included a touch sensitive click wheel and a sliding cover to protect the FireWire port. Both improvements were designed to help keep dust from entering the MP3 player, which was conceived to be an issue by some. A 20GB version was also added to the line up.
Configurations
- 10 and 20GB hard drive disk capacities
All iPods came with the following:
- An iPod draw-string bag
- White earbud headphones
- Wired remote
- Drivers/Firmware CD
- IEEE 1394 FireWire 400 cable
- FireWire power adapter
Troubleshooting
To reset a 2G iPod, hold down the menu and play/pause buttons for several seconds. This will force a hard reset and cause the iPod to reboot. On early firmware versions, this would also cause the date and time to reset.
