The iPhone 3G was announced at WWDC 2008 and will be available in July 2008. It includes 3G and GPS support and comes in a thinner enclosure than its predecessor which includes a black plastic back and solid metal buttons. It also includes improved battery life, with 300 hours of standby, 10 hours of 2G talk-time 10 hours, 5 hours of 3G talk-time), 5 to 6 hours of high-speed browsing, 7 hours of video or 24 hours of audio.

The iPhone 3G will be subsidized by carriers. The subsidized pricing is $199 (8GB black) and $299 (16GB, black or white). In the U.S., non-AT&T customers or customers that already own an iPhone will be eligible for the subsidized pricing. If you are non-iPhone AT&T customer, you will be subject to certain qualification criteria. AT&T's "standard" upgrade criteria are posted here but may be subject to change. If you don't fit any qualification criteria, then it is expected that a higher unsubsidized price for the iPhone 3G will be announced before July 11th.

Availability

The iPhone 3G will be available on July 11, 2008 in 22 countries; Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and USA.
